not.....a haiku.

i listened to the news on the radio for a few minutes for the first time in a couple months this morning. and i mean the real news, with no corporate sponsors, not that garbage all you sticky people are eating up with a spoon. and i am listening for the sound of hope. i am listening for the possibility that we can transcend the vanity of our species and survive. and i am becoming more and more convinced that a transformative process has begun. i can hear that booming voice threatening me not to look behind the curtain at the great OZ, and i can feel a large looming universe chuckling to itself at that peckish government goon what thinks himself so powerful. millions will die. millions are dying now. i cannot speak of the atrocities and horrors that are the human attack on biodiversity. decide for yourself whether or not there is a personality behind the increase of frequency and intensity of the "natural disasters" that are plaguing us. it doesn't really matter what we believe about them. they will continue on regardless of our labels. whatever side of the great divide between science and religion you find yourself on (and i know that some of you deign to walk the precarious line betwixt), please take a moment to remind yourself that the universe could give a flying fuck about these petty squabbles, and will continue on it's path no way not no how. so hows about we let go of this idea of "the end" or even "the beginning" because, frankly, those ideas are so achingly flawed, SO last millenia, so tragically human. if you had six fingers and six toes at the end of each limb, we'd have a base six number system. science is and has always been the current ideaology/theory waiting to be replaced/disproven by the next one. religion, in many ways, is the placement of human characteristics/personality traits onto an omnipotent entity. i am a grain of sand in an omniscient universe. i am a universe unto myself, as well as to every iota of life living on or inside of me, down to the immeasurable quantum doodads residing in my ear canal. there is a universal thrum, the beating of an all powerful drum out in the depths of space (or maybe that's my heart beating). but really it's the sound of laughter as we crush kill destroy ourselves into what better be at least a thousand fucking years of peace, please. enjoy your seafood, now. 'cuz we done killed it. better learn to grow yer own food. play nice with the other children, put it back when your done, and hands are not for hitting. get in the queue, motherfucker! all aboard the transformageddon train!
